The Three Pillars of Turning Goals into Reality

    Author’s Note

In mid 2024, when I learned my wife and I were expecting our first child, I began reflecting deeply on life and fatherhood. I found myself thinking about how to share the most important lessons and insights I’ve gained throughout my life with my child.

While I recognize that I’m still growing and learning, I felt compelled to document my core beliefs and life philosophy. My hope is that these writings will serve as a clear guide for my child—a way to understand how their father viewed the world, rather than having to piece together fragments of wisdom over time.

The first topic that came to mind was my understanding of how to manifest our goals and desires into reality and what I believe to be the three pillars of turning your goals and desires into reality. These three pillars are: Thought > Word > Action (in that particular order.)

This writing draws inspiration from various sources including books, podcasts, and personal experiences. Please note that this is a draft version, and while I’ve done my best to credit sources where I can remember them, some citations may be missing or incomplete.

    On Thought

This is where your world begins—your world as an individual, shaped by your unique experience. Reality just is. But how you perceive reality stems from your thoughts about it. Your mind interprets everything, and through your thoughts, you create your experience of the world.

If your thoughts are of fear, anxiety, and anger—then that will be your world. The world itself remains unchanged, but your emotions act as a lens, coloring your experience. Conversely, if you are anchored in love, gratitude, and compassion, your world will reflect those states. Let’s explore these emotional states and their impact on your ability to create and manifest your desires.

The Limiting Emotions: Fear, Anxiety, and Anger

    Fear

Fear is one of the lowest emotional states. It is rooted in scarcity, in the belief that “there isn’t enough.” It limits your potential, depleting your strength and courage. However, fear should not be confused with caution, which serves a practical purpose. Fear restricts, while caution allows for awareness without paralysis.

    Anxiety

Anxiety pulls you away from the present moment. It keeps you stuck in the past, replaying what went wrong, or in the future, worrying about what could go wrong. The mind creates these imagined scenarios, and if left unchecked, they become your experience. But if you possess the power to construct these fictions, why not create fictions based on love and gratitude instead?

    Anger

Anger, if not handled with awareness, fuels itself. It tricks you into thinking that indulging in it feels good, but in reality, it drains you. Anger floods the body with stress hormones, taking a toll on your well-being. As the Buddha said, “Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.”

To manifest what you truly desire, you must free yourself from these lower emotions. Let’s now explore the states of being that empower your creative process.

The Empowering Emotions: Love, Gratitude, and Compassion

    Love

Love is the highest and most expansive emotion. It is boundless, limitless, and freely given. Love brings clarity, while fear and anxiety create confusion. When you operate from a place of love, your natural intuition guides you. You will instinctively know what to say, do, and how to respond. Love is your true state of being.

    Gratitude

Gratitude is a powerful tool to shift your energy instantly. If you find yourself trapped in fear, anxiety, or anger, gratitude is the ladder that lifts you out. There is always something to be grateful for. The more you acknowledge your blessings, the more your reality will reflect abundance.

Think of it this way: If you give a thoughtful gift to a child, and they barely acknowledge it, you wouldn’t feel inspired to give more. But if they receive it with joy and appreciation, you’d be excited to give them more. This is how gratitude works—when you appreciate what you have, life gives you more to be grateful for.

    Compassion

Compassion is love in action. It is love combined with empathy, allowing you to see beyond yourself. With compassion, you no longer operate from a scarcity mindset. Instead of responding to negativity with anger, you recognize that those who lash out are disconnected from their own love. Compassion allows you to forgive, to understand, and to give freely.

These three states—love, gratitude, and compassion—set the foundation for the creative process.

The Power of Thought in Manifestation

Your thoughts are the starting point of creation. When combined with emotion, they generate energy that shapes your reality. The key is to align your thoughts with empowering emotions rather than limiting ones.

    • Imagine vividly. The first step is to picture every detail of your desire—what you see, what you do, who you are, who you are with.
    • Feel the emotions of having it now. Emotions are energy in motion; they fuel your thoughts. The trick is to feel what you would feel having attained your desire as you are thinking about it.
    • Hold onto this state regularly. The more you practice, the more you align yourself with your desired reality. Do this with intensity, and do this regularly.

The Role of Gratitude in Manifestation

Neale Donald Walsch, in Conversations with God, wrote:

“You will not have that for which you ask, nor can you have anything you want. This is because your very request is a statement of lack, and your saying you want a thing only works to produce that precise experience – wanting – in your reality. The correct prayer therefore is never a prayer of supplication, but a prayer of gratitude. When you thank God in advance for that which you choose to experience in your reality, you, in effect, acknowledge that it is there… in effect.”

Gratitude, then, is not just appreciation—it is a declaration of faith. It shifts you from a state of constant wanting to a state of knowing and thankfulness for having. This is the true essence of manifestation.

    Understanding the Timing of Manifestation

Two key principles apply when manifesting your desires:

    1. There is always a time delay between your thoughts and their physical manifestation. Keep your focus steady and persist with faith that what you are seeking is also seeking you (just be extra mindful of what you are really seeking)
    2. Your desires always manifest, but not always in the way you expect. The path to your goal may look different than imagined—trust in the process.

Instead of stressing over the details, concentrate on the outcome. You’ll find that the outcome is always guaranteed, yet there are many roads that can take you there. Trust that you’ll be guided down the right path. Focus instead on where you want to go and notice the synchronicities that point you in the right direction.

    The Power to Choose Again

If you ever find yourself in a reality you do not enjoy—choose again. Know that this ability is always available to you the moment you make the decision to choose a new thought. As Neale Donald Walsch wrote:

“Choose again. Call forth a new reality. Think a new thought. Say a new word. Do a new thing.”

Life happens for you, not to you. The only thing that will ever work against you is your own mind when you are unaware and allow it to. Let your emotions be your guiding system – when they’re positive, you’ll know that you’re aligned with good, positive, creative energy. Use your emotions and feelings to give energy to your thoughts and tap into your full potential.

As written by Esther Hicks in Ask and It Is Given:

“There is only a stream of well-being that flows. You can allow it, or resist it, but it flows just the same.”

Energy is always flowing around us, you can choose which stream to float upon – positive or negative. You are the master of your fate. You are the captain of your soul.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Thought is where your desires begin.
    • Thought combined with emotion creates energy that manifests in reality.
    • Fear, anxiety, and anger deplete your ability to manifest.
    • Love, gratitude, and compassion empower you to manifest your true desires.
    • Manifestation requires thinking in terms of already having, rather than wanting.
    • Gratitude in advance is a powerful display of faith.
    • There is always a time delay—be patient and persistent.
    • The result will come, though not always in the way you expect—trust the journey.
    • If you find yourself in a reality that you do not enjoy, simply think again.

Ultimately, you are the creator of your reality. Train your thoughts to serve you, anchor yourself in love and gratitude, and watch as life unfolds in your favor.

Words – The Magic You Weave

Is it a coincidence that in fantasy stories, magic is conjured through ‘spells’? That to cast a spell is to invoke magic through the incantation of words? A pretty big coincidence, if you ask me. I want you to understand just how powerful your words are—whether thought, spoken, or written. Perhaps, like me, you’ll come to believe that it’s no accident we associate magic with words.

Thoughts are transcribed into words so we may communicate with others. Often, we even think in words. If words are how we translate thought into speech and writing, then just as it’s important to discipline your thoughts, you must be equally mindful of your words.

    The Power of Auto-Suggestion

I want to share with you the concept of auto-suggestion—the practice of repeating affirmations until they shape your thoughts, beliefs, and ultimately, your reality. This tool can help you attain your dreams, heal emotionally and physically, and grow into the person you want to become.

Thoughts are powerful, but fleeting. Auto-suggestion anchors them into something tangible, allowing your creative energy—when mixed with emotion—to manifest your desires. To practice auto-suggestion, first define what you wish to be, do, or have. Fixate on this desire and put it into words. Say it aloud, write it down, and feel the emotions of already having it. Do this regularly—morning, evening, or whenever inspiration strikes. And if inspiration doesn’t strike? Pick up a pen, start writing, and watch it flow.

    Writing as a Manifestation Tool

Auto-suggestion through writing is simple: craft statements of your desires and gratitude as if they are already real, and repeat this practice frequently. Auto-suggestion through thinking, however, is more difficult. It requires ongoing awareness and presence—building an inner dialogue rooted in love, gratitude, and compassion.

Writing makes it easier to be intentional with your words. When you see your thoughts starkly on paper, you immediately recognize whether they align with your goals. But when speaking or thinking, it’s easier to let negative or limiting words slip by unnoticed. This is how auto-suggestion can work against you.

Imagine responding to setbacks with statements such as:

    • “This always happens to me.”
    • “I’m so unlucky.”
    • “I always get the short end of the stick.”

By doing so, you reinforce negativity, casting a spell against yourself. Instead, reframe these thoughts into powerful, optimistic statements:

    • “This is happening for me—something better is around the corner.”
    • “I am lucky and blessed.”
    • “Things have always worked out before, and they will again.”
    • “What can I learn from this?”

    The Power of “I AM”

The most powerful affirmations begin with “I AM.” Anything that follows these words is a spell you cast upon yourself. “I AM” affirms your belief in who you already are—not just what you hope for. You don’t want love; you want to be love. You don’t wish for abundance; you want to embody abundance. “I AM” transports you to the reality you desire, shifting you from wishing to being.

Notice the difference between “I want to be successful” and “I AM successful”? One implies longing, the other affirms presence. Your words declare who you are—not who you hope to become. Speak accordingly.

Be extremely mindful of what follows “I AM” in your thoughts, speech, and writing.

Writing as a Tool for Growth

Beyond manifestation, writing is a tool for introspection. In times of joy, writing deepens gratitude, capturing life’s blessings so you can relive them later. In times of difficulty, writing helps you process emotions, gain clarity, and let go.

I hope you make writing a lifelong practice—one that brings magic into your world. Let your pen be your wand.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Your words are spells—choose them wisely.
    • Be mindful of the words you think, speak, and write.
    • Auto-suggestion is a powerful tool—use it to your advantage.
    • Your inner dialogue shapes your reality—make sure it serves you.
    • “I AM” statements are transformative—affirm who you already are.
    • Writing is therapeutic—use it to celebrate the good and process the bad.

Your words create your reality. Cast them with intention.

    Action

Now it is time, as they say, to “put it all into action.” Begin with the end in mind. Prime yourself mentally and emotionally to be in a state of receiving, allowing the stream of well-being to flow to you. Write down your goals—bring them from the realm of thought into the physical. Speak of your goals—with humility, to your inner circle, to yourself. Let fear and doubt dissolve as you practice the principle of auto-suggestion, repeatedly affirming to yourself and the world what you intend to achieve. And then, get off your behind and just do it!

Life happens for you, but you must initiate the process. Thinking, speaking, and writing alone will not bring your desires into reality—it requires action. The bigger the goal, the greater the action required, and the longer you may need to persist. 99.99% of the time, success is built through repeated actions, not a single moment of effort. Dream big because big dreams come true when your level of effort and sacrifice align with the magnitude of your vision. When your goal is deeply connected to your highest self, work ceases to feel like work—it becomes a fulfilling pursuit. Every ounce of energy you invest takes you one step closer to realizing your aspirations.

The key, as with everything else, is consistency. Steven Pressfield famously wrote in The War of Art:

“Someone once asked Somerset Maugham if he wrote on a schedule or only when struck by inspiration. ‘I write only when inspiration strikes,’ he replied. ‘Fortunately, it strikes every morning at nine o’clock sharp.’”

This quote perfectly illustrates the necessity of discipline and commitment in taking action.

    Aligning Thoughts, Words, and Actions

To truly live out your desired reality, your thoughts, words, and actions must be in alignment. Let’s take wealth and abundance as an example. If your desire is financial prosperity, you must embody the state of wealth before it fully materializes—that’s faith. Think as a wealthy person would think, speak as a wealthy person would speak, and act as a wealthy person would act.

This doesn’t mean boasting about wealth before achieving it or spending recklessly beyond your means. Rather, it means cultivating self-belief. Remove statements of lack from your vocabulary. Instead of saying, “I will never afford this,” reframe it as, “I am attracting the means to afford this.” Instead of “If only I could…” say, “I am on my way to making this possible.”

If wealth and abundance are your goals, act with generosity. Giving freely is an acknowledgment that you already have enough. You cannot give what you do not possess. When a beggar asks for change or a charity seeks donations, your first impulse should be to give—and to give freely. True generosity comes from a place of abundance, not excess. Giving when you have little is far more meaningful than giving when you have plenty. This is how you embody the energy of abundance before it fully manifests.

The Role of Hard Work and Opportunity

There is a quote I love and have found true my entire life:

“The harder I work, the luckier I get.”

Life is always happening around you, and opportunities constantly present themselves. Yes, some may start with more advantages than others, but there is always a chance for success. Sometimes, the greatest joy is not just in reaching the final destination, but in the journey itself.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Take consistent, disciplined action that matches the scale of your dreams—bigger goals require bigger effort.
    • Align your thoughts, words, and actions by thinking, speaking, and behaving as if you’ve already achieved your desired state.
    • Know that the universe is working for you, not against you, and that the harder you work, the luckier you get.

Your dreams are within reach. Now, take the first step—and keep going.
